Ritual pyres are cast for light’s everyday missing
The past lays down the day for coming ages

Now comes poetry again
veiled wisdom or warm deceit
to let us - poor humans -
survive another freezing and obscure night?

because no human eyes
can stare at the power of Nature
taking its place on Earth at night

No religion, no science, no human love
can stand its mighty essence
